Hybrid Mouthpiece UK

Post by Geordie »

Thinking about doubling on Trumpet. Can do the valve thing but interested in your thoughts about mouthpiece. I am using a Wedge 6.75 on a King 3B+ and an Olds 3 is the mouthpiece for my Olds Recording. Chason looked interesting but they have no UK distribution and importing is way too expensive. Any suggestions for a mouthpiece that might make doubling less difficult or advice on how to choose one? I’ve heard a wide rim helps ...

I’ve got a Chason, and it’s really opened up a new world for me. I had my first ska gig doubling trumpet and trombone a few weeks ago, and I’ve done a lot of church gigs on just trumpet in the half-year that I’ve had the mouthpiece. If you can’t acclimate to a trumpet mouthpiece, Chason may be worth the added cost.

Has anyone tried a chasons mouthpiece on horn. I'm thinking about just getting a single in F to start. Ultimately, I'd like to be able to double, sub, or sit in when needed.
