Wow, I still have a copy of this, although it's a bit more worn than this one. Probably has some notations penciled in on some pages. Wonder if I should put it on the market? Hmmmm....

The book is listed for an opening bid of $130, with no bidders. Why is the book so desirable? Or, given that there are no bidders, maybe it isn't.

This book is desirable. It is a collection of transcribed solos by fifty or sixty different trombone players, from early New Orleans players up to Bill Watrous, Roswell Rudd and others, with notes on the playing styles of each player. Fantastic book, but long out of print. It's hard to find because it's a real specialty item. I'd snag it myself if I had the disposable money right now...

It looks like an interesting book. I'd buy it for a more reasonable price. An updated version that included some of the current virtuoso trombonists would be amazing.

A bit more about the book:
Jazz Styles & Analysis: Trombone is subtitled “A History of the Jazz Trombone Via Recorded Solos.” It contains about 200 solos transcribed and annotated by David Baker, some brief and some rather lengthy. Occasionally there is more than a single example from a given artist. It was published as a comb-bound 8.5 x11 booklet by Maher Publications in 1973. 143 pages.
Aside from being a history—actually, it’s sequenced alphabetically—the booklet serves well as lesson material for medium to advanced students.

I have two copies in storage, in case anyone is seriously interested. Good shape. Make me an offer.
