Beginning Small Ensemble Literature

Post by ajroosevelt »

Do you know of any literature for small band ensembles....thinking trio, quartet, or quintet.

Level: early high school. Kids will have had 3 - 5 year of band in school. May or may not have had private lessons.

Genre: Christmas Music. Kids want to perform in church.

Instruments: Trombone, French Horn, Tuba, Trumpet, and maybe a woodwind.

(Anything close would be helpful. Could always transpose a few parts if needed.)

Thank you.

Salvation Army books are written to be performable by small ensembles just like you're talking about.

I have set of books by Kjos called "Christmas Time". Four parts. Available in Bb treble, F Treble, and 1st, 3rd, 4th in Bass. I use 1 and 2 in Bb treble (trumpets), 3d in F (horn) and 4th in bass (trombone and tuba in octaves). 32 arrangements of the most popular carols.
