NY Bach LS Screw Rim mouthpiece info

Post by Slidemo »

HI all,

Awhile ago I acquired an interesting mouthpiece from another forum member, it is rather unique!

It's a large shank, Remington taper, screw rim piece.

It's stamped; VINCENT BACH CORP., NEW YORK The top of the engraving is missing which may or may not have to do with the screw rim. It's also stamped J.P.S.

The rim looks original, its a perfect fit. It's wide about 2G size. The cup is a crazy shape, gets shallow really quickly and is kind of an S shape. I've never seen anything like this before.

Does anyone know who J.P.S. may have been and what instrument they played? My guess would be an Elkhart 8H and s/he like a wide rim and a bright sound! I did see one other J.P.S piece on eBay awhile ago, it part of a job lot so a bit too expensive just to end up with another crazy piece.

I suspect it's value (if there is any) lies in it's collect-ability rather than play-ability!

Any info or musings would be gratefully received.

Kind regards,

Hamish
