Hey TC folks. Last week a book was brought to my attention, "Carved in Stone, The Life and Musical Legacy of Vincent DeRosa" written by Todd Miller and originally published in 2009. Vince was a legend and the most recorded horn player of all time. His musicianship was on such a high level I thought this book is one I should read! I got mine in the mail and have been reading a section every day. Great stuff!
Most of the information applies to all brass playing including trombone so don't think, "Yeah, but it's a French Horn book." There is gold to be mined in these pages. Wisdom nuggets. In my way of thinking, if I find even ONE thing that helps me develop into a better musician then it's worth the $20 bucks. This book has given me some wonderful insights and I'm applying them to my practice and performance every day.
If anyone is interested, this link will take you to the book testimonials and order page.
