I was scrolling trough the internet and found this one. I'm no expert for olds trombones but this looks like pretty good condition and value so maybe some of you are interested:

As far as I know, those horns are Olds in name only. I don't remember if they were made by Blessing or in China or somewhere else, but they're not real F.E. Olds instruments.

If it's still a good horn, it's a good price for an independent bass these days, but only if you're nearby. If you have to pay for international shipping and customs, it's no longer worth it.

Elkhart? That's likely a Blessing stencil (model B98?). Serviceable but nothing to write home about. Decent price for what it is.

I seem to recall the B98 being closed wrap like the B88 tenor, but I can't find any pictures of the B98. If anything this looks more like a Weril to me.

I thought it may be genuine because the ad states "made in Elkhart.IND. USA" and the bell also states this (last picture). What would be the right place for true Olds?

No. Olds was in L.A. and Fullerton California.

The case looks like the kind of cases Blessing was using. Blessing produced a number of stencil horns, I know of at least 3-4 of them, but I'm sure that there were more.

I own a Blessings B88. It's not a bad horn, but definitely not as good as my Yamaha 643.

Olds closed down and liquidated in 1979; the name was sold on and used on instruments from various manufacturers. As Doug mentioned, "real" Olds trombones will be marked as either Los Angeles, California or Fullerton, California.

You're right; I dredged this image of a B98 out of the Wayback Machine (circa 2007).
