Son upgraded his concert horn to a Bach 42AF

My son has been playing (and marching) with a Yamaha 448G for the last few years; it was his beginner band instrument and purchased used. His instructor recommended that he look into a concert only instrument as marching is…ummm…very unkind to anything and everything.
Checked out a few instruments, he liked and his lesson teacher also recommend an axial flow valve.
Just have to say his tone is so much clearer, his upper register no longer sounds forced or pinched off, and his motivation to play some of the more difficult etudes is through the roof. My ears tell me he “leveled up” and his beginning band instrument (which now needs major service as well, at least he hasn’t crashed into his neighbors when they are ducking & swinging left/right….) was certainly holding him back.
I wanted to make a post since I had used this forum to help in our decision making process.
Ps…after his Yamaha (his only trombone when we started) gets repaired I’m going to check if he can use a straight horn for marching (most of the trombone all use their beginner band instruments which have f attachments).
