MP that is similar on size to GB 4g-5g but with a rounder rim?

I tried that size from someone recently and liked the feel, but the flat rim digs into my teeth (especially my sharp canine) and makes it uncomfortable. I used to play DW and always experienced some kind of pain often until I switched to a Griego which I thought was a bit better. I noticed a trend of makers going for flatter rims lately, and it's hard to find a rounder and softer contour that fits my face. Are there any MP that are a similar size, but with a rounder and softer rim contour out there?

What Griego were you playing? The 4, 4M, and the artist series all have “softer” contours in m opinion. Though, you might consider the rims flatter than I do.
Other options
Pickett - “R” rims - 4 R / S cup
Ultimate Brass - 4 or 4.1
Hammond - 11ML,
Doug Elliott - many,many options.
Long Island Brass - Lots of options.
Hope that helps. Have a good one.

Where did you encounter this trend?
Many different rim profiles available. What have you tried other than the DW and Griego?

I was excited to try Laskey's new pieces but they happened to be flat, as well as, GB, DW, and I felt that some Schilke and Bach pieces were semi-flat, while others were pretty rounded (don't remember which models, but I remember something like the 6.5 feeling rounder than the 5G if that's a thing?). I guess I haven't ventured out very far to see the big picture, so maybe it's some kind of confirmation bias or something.

I currently play a 4m! I used to play a DW 5AL and it's noticeably rounder and comfier for me, but still causes me some pain during long sessions. Could be a pressure or embouchure problem, but happens way less with the 4m. I will definitely check out some of the MP you suggested, thanks!

Conn's Christian Lindberg mouthpieces definitely do not have flat rims!

It sounds to me like more than just a flat vs round question. Is it the outside edge of the rim that's impacting your canine tooth? That would be the case with a flat and wide rim as you get into larger diameters, but a narrower rim contour might stay away from that tooth. First determine what inside diameter works best for you, then see what needs to be done with width and shape to accommodate the tooth issue. I make most of my rims in 3 different widths.

Ours are rounder at the radius, designed for maximum comfort.

Doug! I recently emailed you essentially about this issue in hopes of an online lesson to find a definite answer to this with your help. I wonder if you're free any time these coming weeks for one? If not, that is fine.
I am not entirely sure what part of it is impacting my tooth, but it feels like it might be the rim itself (like the center-ish). Thank you for your response though, I will definitely try different diameters first and go from there.
