Hello,
What is the original mouthpiece that came with the king 4b (sonorus/silversonic in '90)?
Thanks

Those came with either a Benge 5g or 6 1/2. The earlier 4b’s (pre-1980’s) came with a King 29.

My mid-70's 4BF came with a King (Equatrue?) 29. It matches with the instrument extremely well, but has an uncomfortably narrow rim shape. I generally use a Bach 5gs.

My 1978 King 4B came with a Benge 6.5AL.

Interesting. I think my mid-70's 6B Duo Gravis also arrived standard with an Equatrue 29 from King.

My 72 4B came with a 29. Matched very well. Since I was in college studying finance, I did not have time to perfect my high range with it. Since it also came with an adaptor, I kept it and my small bore 12C from my Getzen Tenor for marching band, handy, for quick change when the 1st part had a lot of high notes in it. It worked surprisingly well in the middle and high range....though rather sucky on the low notes.

Yes, the 29 also came with the DG. King didn’t make a bass trombone mouthpiece in those days, so I guess they just threw in the biggest one they had.

And yet, the DG was designed around Alan Raph and the 1-1/2G he was comfortable playing...
