Anyone have experience with those clear plastic clip-on sound reflectors? Our jazz band has had to move to a rehearsal space that is incredibly live. The lead tenor (sax) player has used one for years and swears by it.

I use mine a ton and wouldn’t wanna be without it! Last night on a funk band hit the trumpeter said he got one too after noticing that HE could hear me significantly better at a rehearsal. It won’t really work in a big band though because of the mutes; imo the point of it is to get more feedback while you’re on a mic.

Used to use them on mics. It was great; very helpful.

Are you talking about something intended to shield the player or something intended to shield a mic?

I simply use a shield of plexiglas screwed to a cymbal stand.
At a distance of about 50cm I can hear myself much better and the sax player in front of me gets his hearing loss a little bit later.
The Bigband of the German Bundeswehr used shields like this at a gig and it was easy to build one myself.
