I had work done by him a couple of months ago. Fast and quality work.

This is the first time I'm hearing about Goldchops. Is that a lot of people's go to gold plating spot? I'm assuming they do good work?

Where are they located?

I've only sent one mouthpiece out to get gold plated and sent it to Dillons. But I was thinking about getting 1, maybe 2, of my pieces gold plated.

He’s in Florida and I’ve used him a few times. Uses 24kt gold. I’m sending a few new pieces to get plated next week.
Also used Stork Mouthpieces before as well.
GoldChops is $45 for an entire piece.
Stork does well with silver replating and refurbishment.

I've had excellent results getting mouthpieces replated by Dave Friedman in Bellingham, Washington:
www.mouthpieceplatingservice.com

Apparently gold has become expensive.

I just had a Schilke 51 re-goldplated by Dave Friedman. Did a nice job. He’s just a short drive away. Good service. Reasonably quick turnaround. Interesting guy.

Gold is very expensive. At only $45 for a whole mouthpiece, I would wonder what thickness it is, and therefore how long it would last. Does he say the thickness?

I don’t know numbers but it’s a thin layer for sure- enough for a couple years but not enough that you’ll never have to worry again.

I just sent him another email and asked. We will see what he says.

5 microns thick. I believe that’s the maximum if I’m not mistaken.

Agreed. I had one done there and it was lighter looking. Your gold plate and John Stork's were the best I've seen. Maybe there are others.

I too have had excellent results getting a mouthpiece replated by Dave Friedman. He did my old (40s) Bach 12SC in silver with gold cup and rim. Love that old mouthpiece, plays great. Dad would be proud of his old piece!

I’m sending him two new Greg blacks and sending an early Corp 1-1/2g and a Laskey 93d that need replating, to Stork. Most folks do a great job, but some are sketchy.
