Beauty and the Beast
There are several orchestrations for the Broadway show Beauty and the Beast. The original production had a bass trombone and tuba chair that I have played multiple times. There's at least one more orchestration, a reduction, that was/is used. Has anyone ever played any of the reduced orchestrations? What were the specific instruments that the trombone chair used? Thanks.

I have vague memories of playing keys for a reduced show, and looked it up to confirm... no trombone chair.

Thanks. Yes I knew about this version but I know there's another reduction that did use trombone that was not the original orchestration. Appreciate the info.ithinknot wrote: ↑Tue Mar 21, 2023 7:41 am I have vague memories of playing keys for a reduced show, and looked it up to confirm... no trombone chair.

Does anyone happen to have a PDF of the original bass trombone/tuba part?

I know this is an old thread but, would anyone have or know how to get ahold of the trombone part for this? Contacting MTI about getting just the trombone part but I don't think they do individual parts. Thanks.

Do you mean the original bass trombone and tuba part?

Never mind, I got ahold of it! Yeah, I *think* I meant the original one? That came out in the 90s or so? I've only ever seen one part and it was indeed a trombone and tuba book (though it didn't specifically say bass trombone, just Trombone/Tuba, and majority of the part can be played on a tenor.)
Anyway I was able to find it (I KNEW I had it but could not find it anywhere and it turned up on an old hard drive.) Thanks!

Glad you found it. The original show was played on bass trombone and tuba. Legend Paul Faulise played the show in New York on Broadway. I did the National Tour in 1997. Major bass trombone moments. There were several road versions that had some tenor trombone and tuba and a little bass trombone.Jhereg wrote: ↑Wed Aug 28, 2024 8:06 amNever mind, I got ahold of it! Re: Beauty and the Beast
Just now seeing this, sorry!
Yeah I notice that a lot of parts where it says “trombone” have things like B-natural or lots of pedals, so figured this must be a bass trombone/tuba as opposed to tenor/bass part.
