A mouthpiece that goes well with the pfretzschner alto trombone

Hello, I am currently playing pfretzschner alto trombone.
Bore is the biggest bore(maybe .547)
I've played a lot with this instrument, but haven't decided on a mouthpiece yet. Which mouthpiece do you think suits you? Please recommend it to me.

Is that large shank or small shank? I have a 525/547 alto that I haven’t settled on but I was finding Doug’s XTC/Calto to be best when I was playing it last but there were things I liked about the C3 shank. If it’s large shank that could be tricky but if I had a large shank alto I’d start with a C cup and my C8 shank and go from there

I remember trying the .547 bore Pfretzschner alto many years ago and it seemed to.play really well with the same mouthpiece I would use on most altos. I didn't spend enough time to experiment, but I liked it.
I use my XT N104 rim, C+ cup, and D alto s shank. The exact shank would depend on the receiver; my "s" (small) taper goes in a bit farther than a standard small shank, and works great on most altos. You might not want a rim that big (or the XT series) but it's what works for me. Alto range is no different than what I normally play on small tenor in jazz and big band settings and that's the same rim and cup I use on my .500 bore. It can get a big sound, but I back off and play soft, the same way it's possible to play sackbut with a modern mouthpiece and still get a characteristic sound.

My friend has one, he plays it with my New York Bach 7. I should probably make him pay for that at some point...

I was never an alto trombone player, focused mainly on bass. But when I lived and worked in Germany most of the people played German Altos when they needed one. I remember advice from the principal trombone of a very internationally acclaimed orchestra to not pair a a German Alto with an American mouthpiece as the concepts of design are so different.
Looks like plenty of people here do just fine not worrying about that. Also relatively sure that I saw Mr. Vernon play his German alto with what I thought was a Bach mouthpiece.

No, Schmidt write it yet. I’m currently using Troya mouthpiece. Thank you for the good advice.
I'll have to try the Schmidt one.

That is very interesting. The Schmidts are very competent and courteous guys.
