The bumpers on my rotors keep sliding out of the socket after the rotor has been engaged a number of times. Anyone have any tips on keeping them in place?

Tiny drop of super glue will keep them in place.

If there is any oil in the socket, clean it out using rubbing alcohol on a cotton swab. Also clean the bumpers to get the oil out.
With clean, dry sockets, put some rubber cement in the socket and on the bumper. Let dry to tacky before inserting in the socket.
After reinstalling the plugs, check rotor alignment. your reinsertion may have lost the original adjustment (which is done by trimming the bumper with a razor blade).

What flavor horn?
Above mentioned ideas are good, might just need new bumpers installed & trimmed.

To echo the above, with my old Holton when I got it the bumpers had hardened with age and would work loose as described. New bumpers solved the issue until 5 years later when the replacements simillarly devolitized, hardened and loosened after I left the instrument out on a stand in the conservatory all summer.

The Yamaha bumpers should fit snugly, hopefully your Tech will use them or a similarly sized replacement.

Hey Derek. I recommend a rubber based adhesive because super glue can sometimes harden the rubber bumpers if too much is used. A hardened bumper can make the rotor noisy.
I like contact cement.....it is rubber based and if you let the two sides of the contact point dry first the bond is particularly strong. Another solution is to use a bumper slightly too large. Stretch it while installing and then it will expand for a snug fit in the cork plate when the stretch is released. Of course the stop-arm contact point will need to be trimmed to the proper size.

You can also put some clear nail polish into the slot for the bumper. Put the bumpers in and let it dry for 10 minutes before use.
