Trial of the instrument maker

The court record of the 1795 trial of Lockey Hill, member of the rising Hill family of English luthiers, for horse theft.
It doesn't take long and it doesn't end well. Friends who can vouch for you but don't show up for the trial are unreliable friends!
LOCKEY HILL, Theft > animal theft, 2nd December 1795.
The dates for Lockey Hill presented by modern string instrument dealers rather diverge from what this trial record suggests. I can imagine multiple possibilities for confusion.
