Techs In The Atlanta Area

Apologies if this is the wrong forum for this question. I just purchased a used modular tenor trombone. the braces no longer perfectly line up with the bell. It's about a millimeter off. Meaning if the lower brace is in its bell socket the top brace is just off center with its socket and won't fit without slightly bending the brace or the bell. Since I removed the valve section from the bell I have NOT done this. I suspect the horn fell at some point causing the misalignment. I may be the first person to take the instrument apart since that happened, and I don't want to make things worse. I'd prefer not to have to ship the horn to a tech if possible but I have only been in Atlanta for less than a year and didn't have any trombones until recently so I have no idea if there are any good techs here. I'd think there would be since there are so many high schools and colleges here. Anyone have any suggestions?

I believe whoever did the original work had to make compromises because they did not replace the gooseneck and the original 42 gooseneck is too short for the modification that was done.

That should be a pretty easy fix.

I'm not so sure they would have necessarily had to make compromises. I had a straight 42 that I added a valve to and the tech I used just cut the portion of the pipe where the valve went and then re-tapered the neck pipe. That was a great playing Bach.

The tech used a shires part which adds a little length to the bell that wasn’t originally there so the brace doesn’t line up to the ferrule on the tuning slide tube.
