I own a King Silver Sonic 3B trombone that has a pressed in leadpipe. Everytime I take out the mouthpiece, the whole leadpipe comes with it. The leadpipe is a King. So what would you do? Freeze it in place? I really don't mess with leadpipes and haven't in 50 years of playing. Asking for suggestions. Thanks so much.

I had the two-piece leadpipe in my 3B slide removed and bought a brassark 32H leadpipe for it. I used it as a press fit for a week before I got fed up. I had a tech solder it in for me.

Chuck Ward permanently installed the King leadpipe in an Olds Studio slide that he rebuilt for me. It matched the new inner top slide. So he didn’t have to swedge it.

I avoided that annoyance of it falling out. I don’t know the details. Chuck can do it. Mr. Schilke was picky about the mouthpiece and leadpipe fit up. I don’t know that it is trivial to make it fit right. I suspect not.

Yeah, a tech can solder it in for you. Easy to do and shouldn't cost too much.
