In the 1930s the Treasury was putting out lists of everyone who made more than $50,000 a year.

Note the related article about the Wurlitzer heir suing to stop someone from publishing this list. The salary figure caused "unrest among the employees of his company."
I think if you don't want anyone to know that you make more than $50,000 a year, publicly suing for $50,000 the company putting out a list of people who make more than $50,000 a year is not going to help.
And... horse, barn door... all of that, too.
