I have a locally made bell that I use with a Bach slide. The lock nut doesn’t quite match the threads on the bell section. It looks like it fits about half way. I’d like the bell and slide to fit together properly.
How to fix this? Difficulty?

Re: Lock nut Bach slide
The only way to fix this is to change a part. What is the bell section make? You may need to have the female slide receiver unsoldered and the lock nut changed out.

When I read "a locally made bell" I figured it had to be. He must have used particular hardware. Not Bach?

Re: Lock nut Bach slide
Joe would make you a bell but, after he was cut off by Bach (so the story goes), he left it to the customer to find a slide. Most guys used a Bach or a King. The slide that came with my bell is a Bach 16 and I expect it was the “original” but it doesn’t fit particularly well. A friend uses a King slide, but I don’t think it fits any better.

Oh Jeez, I got the last DeBruycker back in 05, and he hand made the Locknut. It was trash. I had to take it all apart to fix it.
Get a Bach reveiver and nut. Problem solved.
