Older Thayer (SS Core)

Hi all-
I have an older Thayer valve with the stainless steel core (brass casing). I have heard that these tend to stick/lock up with frequent use (I haven't played the horn long enough to know if mine does). Anyone have any recommendations for oil for this particular valve?
Thanks,
Ian

I use Ultra-Pure on everything. Keep it clean and lubed and it'll be fine.

Thanks for the reply. That's good to know. I already use Ultra Pure on my other valves, and I did give it an Ultrasonic cleaning recently.

I have a stainless-steel axial core in one of my horns. Never had any problems with it and I do not swear allegiance to any brand of oil. I just make sure it is super clean and oil it regularly. If this is your first axial valve, make sure you learn how to pull it apart and clean all of the nooks and crannies.

THIS exactly!!
I have 1st gen. thayers too with the stainless core and outer casings.
But regardless of which valve you have, regular maintenance is the key!!!!
Heavier bearing oil on the spindles and light oil inside the cores and you should be set!!
