Found an absolute gem of a documentary. It's stuff like this which is frustratingly hard to find, at least on TV in the U.S.

I streamed this the other night. Fascinating.
There are a lot of programs in the Absolute History series. One that was interesting is a series on a Victorian Era farm. Each program is about an hour. Most seem to be on YouTube.

I'm definitely checking other programs from them.

I managed to get to Pompeii and Herculaneum on my post law school Grand Tour. I caught an early train from Rome to Naples, and, in Naples, caught the “Trans Vesuviani” to the Pompeii site where I tagged along with an English-speaking tour group (they’d all be connected by radio these days).
That was a long time ago now.

Checking out the Absolute History episode on Victorian trends that were killing people. Not nearly as much of a fan of that one - interesting info, fur sure, but it's full of the pointless, time-consuming repetitiveness that I find pretty annoying in a lot of "dumbed down" made-for-TV programs. Must have been made by a different director.

Found the same program under a different name: "The Other Pompeii: Life and Death in Herculaneum". Made by BBC, as I thought it would be, which is actually edited out of the Absolute History link. Perhaps useful for someone looking for this on the BBC instead of Youtube.
