Quarantine tinkering...

See, this is what happens when you get stuck at home but your wife works all day because her company makes medical supplies and is “essential.” I got to thinking about alternate tunings, and before I knew it, I built an Eb extension for my second valve. It puts low Eb in first position with the second trigger only, and low C in 1st with both triggers. Pedal B natural is now in second position with both triggers. I ran through some exercises to try to get the positions cemented into my brain, and I found I really like it.
Bonus! I found if I swap the slides, I can put the first trigger into E.

Is your mouthpiece fitting right? Seems quite far out.

That particular piece has an odd shank. It does stick way out. It’s an unmarked Chinese made piece I believe. I was just testing it out when I took that picture.

This tuning slide setup definitely wouldn’t be practical for a tight orchestra pit!

Here it is with a standard Bach mouthpiece in it.

It would make a nice paperweight.
