Dave Stewart on Kenny Wheeler's A Long Time Ago

Embarrassed to say I am just now listening to this great record. I am immediately drawn to the fantastic bass trombone playing of Dave Stewart on the opening suite. Beefy! I love his sound. I'm sure many folks on the other side of the pond know or know of David - what sort of equipment is he playing on?

Hey Nick,
Dave is currently Bass bone at the BBC Concert Orchestra.
I think he's still playing Edwards gear and has for a long time.

I met Dave and had a lesson in about 1990. He had also spent some time studying with Ray Premru and replaced him in London Brass (formerly Philip Jones Brass Ensemble). At that time he was playing a Bach 50B3 and a Schilke 58. He had me start working on false tones...

Sounds about right, Dave played a Bach as did most of the Guildhall school of music students.
He then switched to Edwards when there was a very good dealership in London.

Thanks for the info, gents. The record was released in '98, and recorded a year earlier. Not sure if he was on Edwards by that time, but regardless, I've been enjoying his playing quite a bit!

I do know he was on the Edwards in 1995 so ........
