Valve repair

A couple of weeks ago I asked about lubricating the second valve on my bass trombone. Thanks for the replies.
Today, I'm having lunch, killing time, waiting for my horn to be repaired.
I bought my Yamaha bass about 6 weeks ago. Used but in perfect shape except for a sticky 2nd valve. I told the vendor, a large chain of music stores, that I'd buy the horn but they'd have to clean and lube the second valve. Deal. They had their tech attend to it.
Except the valve remained intermittently sticky. Today, I left it with the local master. He disassembled the valve and showed me how it was a little funky. Some tarnish, a bit of buildup on the spindle. He told me he'd look after it right away (and look at valve #1 as well) and it'd be done in a couple of hours. Couldn't ask for better service.
