Extreme Modifications and Fabrication

Post by ttf_JPMcAdara »

Hi Everyone,
I just wanted to see if anyone had any suggestions for a repair tech that also had some experience with some extreme modifications and fabrications?  I am looking for cutting the bell and some other extreme ideas. I am aware of the BAC Horn Doctor, but he is very busy right now and I am looking to have it done within a few months. Does anyone have any suggestions?  Thank you very much.

Bell cutting is easy, but some of the other stuff Mike Corrigan does? There's guys here who could do, but, depending on what you have planned, not all of the will do it. You'll have to look into it. You might start with Brad Close at Brassmedic.com; he's done a fair amount of fabrication. Maybe John Sandhagen, as well.

Benn Hansson,  Brian Russell, Brad Close,  Gary Daffler,  and I KNOW I'm missing a bunch!

These guys come to mind for bell cutting.

Eric (Bonearzt) does some too (he's too modest to brag).  Also look into M&W in Wisconsin (Horn Builder and MMclemore on the Forum)

You could also contact Bob Osmum (Osmun Brass - Ayer, MA).  He cuts French Horn bells routinely.  Maybe he will do a trombone.

Thank you very much, everyone!  I really appreciate it. I have a pretty exteme project that I am working on, so I just need to find the right person who is willing to work on this project.

Ditto to John L.
Brad Close does excellent work, always worth a call.
John Sandhagen has cut a few bells for me as well as done some pretty wacky stuff; rebuilt a number of slides, plus he's into weird projects.

Both of those guys are top notch, both from personal experience.

Josh Landress is capable of just about anything.

He has cut plenty of bells before and made the horn that Vincent Gardner has recently been playing.

What are you thinking of having done.
Bell cutting, in having it made to a screw bell? isn't extreme.
