Yamaha ML 525 slides on L 547 horn

I recently acquired a 547 bore YSL-682B Bousfield, which plays a tad darker in around then my 30 year main axe YSL-682G semi open wrap, both having a 8.5" Bell. I decided to keep on going with the Bousfield, and think of either selling or altering the G, as I don't have a satisfying ML bone.

Reading the descriptions for the YSL-620/640 models, I get the impression that the bell section is the same, only the slide is different bore?

Question: would the ML slide fit my YSL-682G in receiver and threading, and would this make an acoustically well playing combo?

And, does Yamaha make a suitable ML slide with exchangeable leadpipes? Can't find that info on their home page...

Alternatively, does Yamaha maybe make a dual bored ML/L slide which would fit? Similar to the conn slides

And for the records, my YSL-356G slide does not fit the receiver of the YSL-682G trombone. It wobbles badly, and is probably not a satisfactory acoustical match either.

I don't believe they do...

Your best bet would be to have a tech whip you something up. Buy a modern Conn or Shires dual bore slide and have your tech swap the slide tenon for a a yamaha one or even have your tech make you a slide have scratch.

Hmm. I was afraid that would be the answer. But believe is yet no proof. Did anybody try a 525 Yamaha slide on a 547 bone ?

And merry Christmas , by the way.

I have heard some say that they do, but also many say that they don't. You can always have the tenon sleeved, but that probably would be more trouble than it is worth.

You own a YSL-640 and a YBL-612 according to your signature ? Do those fit in tenon and thread size? Just for curiosity.

I found the answer, the YSL-640 and YSL-620 do use different receivers according to the spare part lists https://parts-search.yamaha.co.jp/html/ ... _id=105609 . So it is pretty safe to assume they are differing in size. Unfortunately.

The YBL-612 is a bass, so it's unlikely that the tenons fit, but the threads on the nut may be the same. I know that Bach uses the same nut on EVERY trombone they make, even their alto.
