Just looking for thoughts on the most sought after mouthpieces that are no longer available from the manufacturers.
This lets out all the great pieces that are currently for sale from today's manufacturers

Good luck with that. I think any great old mouthpiece has either been reissued or remade even better than the original.

Some of the interesting old mouthpieces I tried were:

Clarke. This was remade by Bach as the 6.5AL.
Rudy Muck. I had a 23, but it's way too small for me. They have been reissued.
Jet-Tone B. Similar problem to the Rudy Muck.

I've also tried a lot of old dogs. I won't name them to protect the guilty.

Well, the one that has seemed to fetch the most money on ebay has been the Mt. Vernon 1-1/2G.

Good luck recreating these mouthpieces, I would imagine equipment is quite different from those days and continuity isn't as (at risk at be redundant) consistent as it is today. You know with computers and all.

Tried a Mt.Vernon mouthpiece, felt real flat like, a brick on my chops. Dark centered sound is what I got, but like most tenor mouthpieces I played (and the reason I switched to Bass trombone) didn't take a lot of air.

I think finding a good vintage mouthpiece maker is like hitting the lottery, I'm definitely hooked on modern mouthpiece makers.

My sentiments exactly.

No he didn't, at least he didn't record with it.
J.J. told me himself that he used his M21 on every one of his recordings.
