This is a live album. I wish there was the visual to go along with it, but that was back before they did that like they do today.

Gabor Szabo: "Space" - from The Sorcerer album

Any recommendations for great jazz pianists?

Chick Corea was a great pianist, but this whole group was just a blast.

If its not band or orchestra its Michael Hedges. Lost his life far too early.

Then there’s Hilary Stagg. Also lost his life too early.

I have been listening to the latest Jacob Collier album nonstop. Great tunes and great guest artists.

Here's a group you might enjoy: Band-Maid. All female rock band from Japan who write their own stuff. Driving, melodic, technical, layered, catchy. You'll need to listen to each song a few times to notice all the nuances between the guitars/drums/bass. Great great stuff!

I don't speak a lick of Japanese, but it doesn't matter.

Their live stuff is recommended, but everything is awesome. Start with a few from their live Covid show: 'Warning', 'No God'; then check out their music videos: 'Dice' and 'Blooming'.

I had the same reaction lol
This is my reaction. Challenge accepted:

Zappa and Varese together on a bad trip singing Swedish death songs.

Some very nice microtonal jams by a true music theory nerd.

I spent my teenage years listening to baroque music and despairing that trombones were not a part of it.

Looks like Hilary Hahn has a recent video recording from June 2021. Hint: she's good.

These two can just kill it! Cool to also see them talk about listening and how they came up with this version.

An awesome percussion quartet I stumbled upon a few years ago playing a random gig. Instantly became one of my favorites!

Valentina Lisitsa has a youtube video, “I hate Rachmaninov.” It has links and references to her Decca release of Rachmaninov piano concertos recorded in the UK. She studied the original recordings of Rachmaninov playing Rachmaninov. She doesn’t try to kill it or Schmaltz it up. The sound quality is several notches better than the average cd. She played twice live with the Wichita Symphony but not Rachmaninov.

In fairness, there is a trombone player in this submission on YouTube. But the feature is Makiko Tamura playing “Clarinet Marmalade” on clarinet in the style of George Lewis. It is a little loose but well done.

Of course I like George Lewis. And Andre Previn. And Diana Krall.

For the last decade, I've been following the career of this young cellist/ guitarist/ singer/ songwriter. I've especially enjoyed her solo cello improvisations, like this one:

On the opposite end of the contemporary cellist/ singer/ songwriter spectrum, there's Rushad Eggleston, a Berklee grad gone rogue:

I'm a big fan of Chris Botti's music (especially his collaboration with Sting)!
