Bach 50 Straight Gooseneck

Hi All,

I own a Bach 50B that has been modified to have a modular bell section that can be removed. I was curious about where I might be able to find a straight neckpipe like you could for a 42 or 36, but for this horn. I can't find anything on various brass part websites.

Any tips or suggestions are greatly appreciated.

I don't believe Conn-Selmer nor Bach ever made a straight bass, so you'd probably have to find someone to draw a custom length gooseneck.

Thanks for the responses. I’ll look into finding someone who might be able to make one, and keep an eye out in case there happens to be one floating around...

I could probably do one if you tell me the total length required and the outer diameter at each end. Just the pipe.... you would get it mounted yourself.

Depending on your intention, it might be easier to get a straight 42 bell section and call it a day. Or an Edwards bell section. The former, used, might actually be comparable to getting something custom done depending on luck and patience.

Another possible option, again depending on intention, is to get one from Edwards (they do actually sell straight bass neckpipes) and then replace the tuning slide receiver. At the end of the day as others mentioned, Bach doesn't have a standard set of mounts so you aren't going to be able to buy something off the shelf. It'll have to have some custom stuff done to it to get it to work regardless. Going that route might require getting a difference pipe portion, but you nominally would have the rest of the parts. Although you'd also have to figure out where to acquire parts that made your 50 modular in the first place. If it's a nut that screws onto the bell, it's very possibly an OE Thayer as those have been common parts to use for the conversion for a number of years now.
