Repository of Catalogs and Pamphlets

Post by snieckarz »

Hey all,

I was going through some ld files this evening and came across the Giardinelli mouthpiece catalogs I uploaded links to the ol' Trombone Forum for others to reference. If I recall, there was a specific place on TTF to post the links.

Any chance we could have a space to upload these documents or links to the documents?

Thanks!

This sounds like it'd be a great candidate for our TromboneChat wiki. I hope Matt K will chime in. This is essentially why we set that up.

Where is the wiki? There's a link on the main forums page, but it 404s for me.
(And I didn't know we had one! :o )

Not gonna lie; I actually totally forgot we had one when we switched servers. Evidently not many people noticed either! Let me see if I can put that back this weekend. ALso working on the spam. I made some backend changes this morning; going to try to do a little more and see if we can stop those. (The moderators can see everything, including new posts that haven't yet been 'approved'... we've been getting slammed with those recently so trying to put a stop to that so we can spend time doing more useful things!)

That stinks.
Could recaptcha lessen the problem?

Vast majority of the spam is in Russian.

Other common spam is for cryptocurrency, fake documents, and male sexual enhancement drugs (like Cialis).

I think I "kill" a dozen a day.

Yeah I ended up incorporating recaptcha in the test environment, I'm thinking I'll turn it on here this coming weekend. I haven't noticed any issues but want to be relatively available incase it causes issues with people. We also have a huge domain blocker too now that filters out known spam which seems to have cut it by... maybe 50%? I think between the two of those steps it'll take care of enough of it that we won't have to be doing much to keep tabs on it for awhile. Knock on wood!

Much better to block those requests so they never make it to the server. It's safer, and it lowers the server load. :good:

Okay, now we should return to our regularly scheduled program... Catalogs and Pamphlets! lol

Smirks pointed out that there are not meta description or keyword tags.

What sort of meta tags and keywords do you think would be the best?
