I just picked up a used Shires .508 horn. It came with a 2.5 nickel leadpipe. I feel like the sound and response is a little tight for my taste. I'd like something warmer and more flexible.
I also have a press fit H8 that I've tried. It's a little less centered than I'd like, although if they are my only 2 options I'd use it.
I'll be at ITF in a couple of weeks and might try some leadpipes out. Ideally I'd like one with more center than the H8 and more warmth than the nickel 2.5. Any suggestions for things to try while I'm there? Figure I'll start with a Shires yellow brass 2 and go from there, but don't want to miss an obvious option.
