Mouthpiece plating

Post by CalgaryTbone »

A colleague of mine wants to re-plate his mouthpiece. He's looking at silver plating a Greg Black mouthpiece that is starting to show some wear. I've used Anderson Plating in the past, but I seem to remember that they are only taking larger orders these days because they are so busy. Can anyone confirm that, and are there any recommendations (in either the US or Canada) for a shop that does this? I think he'd rather avoid a jeweler, etc. for this and deal with a shop that regularly does mouthpiece plating.

Any leads would be appreciated. Thanks!

You might try Osmun Music.

Warburton actually has a price schedule on their website:

I'll let TC's resident mouthpiece maker speak for himself...

I work at Pickett Brass/Blackburn Trumpets and we will re-plate any old mouthpieces. The mouthpiece will be buffed just enough to remove any shallow surface defects, but not over-buffed so the playability of the piece remains the same.
