Just wondering who’s spent time on the Shires line of mouthpieces? And how the ‘G’ cup compares to the ‘MD’ or ‘XD’? I’m assuming this means medium deep or extra deep, but not sure.
Any feedback appreciated

Re: Shires Mouthpieces
For the bass ones at least they are not an apples to apples comparison. The 1 1/2G had a smaller rim size, cup depth, and a different rim shape than the 1 1/2MD. I think the G line is supposed to be more of a Bach MV copy. I felt the MD was better but that is only my opinion.

I’ve played the 2g on bass and quite like it. It’s got a very comfy rim, and is very V shaped and fairly deep with a tightish throat.
Did the 1.5MD compare to anything else you’ve played?
