Conn#2 and #3 mouthpieces

Does anyone know the difference between a Conn 2 and a Conn 3 mouthpiece?

I think Bruce has it backwards.

My Conn 3: ~25.0 mm Cup I.D,; 6.35mm throat (measured)

Conn 2 (per spec): ~24.5mm Cup I.D.; 6.35mm throat

So:
• Conn 3 is sort of like a Bach 6¾C but with a deeper, more V-shaped cup and a larger throat;
• Conn 2 is sort of like a Bach 7 but with a deeper, more V-shaped cup and a larger throat.

Apparently the elusive Conn Remington small-shank is larger yet than the Conn 3.
(Similar to the large-shank Remington: 25.65mm Cup I.D; 6.15mm throat?)
I am told these were supplied with the Conn 79H and 78H trombones.
If anyone has a small-shank Remington for sale, I'd like to own it!

Conn Loyalist has info on both Precision https://cderksen.home.xs4all.nl/ConnMpcPrecision.html and Improved Precision https://cderksen.home.xs4all.nl/ConnMpc ... ision.html mouthpieces. There does not appear to be a linear comparison among Conn mouthpieces; each number designation has a different character and purpose, rather than going from step to step to step, as we see (sometimes incorrectly) in other brands.

Conn Loyalist / Derksen's not much help, since it refers only to mouthpieces produced from ~1932 to ~1964. Conn was likely producing the Conn 3 more recently than that - I own one and have played another - probably from no earlier than the mid 70s (though I don't know for sure). At any rate, the information clearly shows that the larger Conn tenor trombone mouthpieces had higher numbers (i.e, that a Conn 3 is larger than a Conn 2). As previously noted, the Conn 3 has a cup I.D. of about 25.0 mm, a fairly deep v-shaped cup, and a 6.35mm throat (larger than Bach mouthpieces of similar size).

The more recent Conn tenor trombone mouthpieces seem to follow the Bach conventions - I have a Conn 12C and a Conn 7C that are similar to their Bach counterparts.
