Satin Finish

I would like to do a satin finish to my 3B bell, not necessarily scratch but they seem to go together.
I have a donor bell to practise on.
I am after information on the method used. Do you rub across the bell, up and down, circular motion etc. When the shine has gone to my liking how do I finish it.

To get a real satin finish you need to sand blast. Not with real sand but with some other media like baking soda crystals or ground nut shells. In a proper sand blasting operation you would use a linear motion much like you would if you were spray painting it.

There are also satin finish lacquers that could be applied. You would need to remove all old lacquer first -- not an easy task on a King 3B.

This won't be a good Do It Yourself project unless you have some appropriate tools.
