I play Alessi 1C on a T-396 and am deeply satisfied with the synergy the combo offers. I have two thoughts and am hoping for some insight from the hive mind here ..
1 - I am working on some solos with extended range and considering a shallower cup version of the Alessi 1C - anyone played multiple cup depths on the same rim that can comment?
2 - I will be forced to finally become proficient on alto in the near future ... I really love the Alessi 1 rim and find that my range is great expanded since switching to it - but everyone seems to play tine little rims for alto and I am not at all comfortable on these sizes anymore. Anyone playing a 1A Alessi on their alto or small tenor?

Yes. The 1A works very well on solo rep on the 396A. Don't try to play it like the 1C. It won't work.
The 1A small shank works wonderfully on alto. But you may not like having to cut your alto tuning slide down.
The 1A small shank also works wonderfully on my .508. Again, you don't play it like the 1C.

FWIW:
I'll be using this video to sell the 1B in the classifieds.
