Never been asked before, so here goes. Would saline (for contact lenses) work for lubricating your handslide? Good idea or not. I had saline that passed the expiration date. Had a lot left unused, and was wondering if I could still use it somehow.
I decided against using it on my slide. Has anyone tried using it? Is it harmful or just a bad idea?

Re: Saline on your slide?
I wouldn't use it. It's a salty solution so as it dries it will deposit small crystals of salt that can abrade your slide.
How out of date is it? It doesn't suddenly "turn to dust" on the expiration date. I'd bet you could safely use 5 year past date solution.

Thanks! Just needed confirmation from another source that it's a bad idea.
It was 1 year past the expiration date as I only use a couple of drips daily. Seemed a waste to dump it but better to be safe.
