My Monke F contra came with a Josef Klier 2A and 2C. The 2A is very deep and open, the 2C much more shallow with a smaller throat. Both pieces have advantages- the 2C is easier to play in general, but the double valve range is not even close to the 2A. I could use either one, I think, but I really don't gel with wide rims and the rim diameter is also huge on these.
My Greg Black doesn't feel good in the horn at all.
However, on a whim I plugged in a Laskey 95D. This seems to solve all my problems and not give anything up except for a tiny bit of size shaved off the sound. For now it's the piece of choice.
I've played a Bruno Tilz that seemed up my alley, but they are so hard to get in the US.
What are you all using in your big horns?

I did play a Bruno Tilz KB3, for me the outstanding piece for contra, but Marcinkiewicz 106 or 107 are also good.
I do not play the contra anymore though, the horn wasn´t mine, it belonged to the orchestra.

I make a variety of pieces for contra with lots of choices.

The Klier 2B is the best of his offerings. I have used it a lot. Last time the CB came out it was with one of Doug's pieces.
