Is a Yamaha ysl154 good for a beginner?

I’m wanting to get my first non-borrowed trombone and one of the ones nearby is a Yamaha ysl154. Should I get it?

I have heard good things about the YSL-354. I have never heard of the 154.

Yamaha is generally good quality.

It is often worthwhile to pick up a good used horn. Depending upon what part of the country you are in, you can probably find a store that will let you save some money.

YSL-154, as far as I know, is the same as the 354 but not made in Japan.

I have all my students who are hiring instruments on the Yamaha 154, it’s the student model here in Australia. Far better quality and sound than similar offerings from Bach and the old beaten up Kings and Conns that float about.

Is it pretty much the same as the 354, and the 200AD?

The part list search system says 2001 onward.

I am outside right now, so I cannot compare the parts of 154 and 354 very well. But I will look at it again once I am at home.
