Trombone Christmas Quintets

Post by toneovertune »

What are some Christmas trombone quintets? I can find quartets or mixed brass quintets usually but finding trombone quintets is quite difficult and I cannot seem to find any besides Holiday Bones, by Wycliffe Gordon, but have already played that.

There is a fabulous set of Holiday tunes arranged by Tommy Pederson for trombone quintet.

You have to buy each part separately, but they're not expensive.

There are the Tommy Pederson's books as Gabe details above. There is an out of print book by Frank Comstock called "Christmas Cheer" that is great, has optional rhythm parts. They were published for trombones as well as saxophones. You might find the sax books and read out of those.

There some others out there,
- Three Traditional Christmas Carols - arr Richard Myers - Accura Music, Inc.
- Suite of Five Carols - arr Wilbur Collin

I looked at Hickey's -> Bonecat -> Trombone quintets. I went through all of the pages and saw a handful of arrangements for Christmas there. Check them out.

This next thing is not what you asked, but if you are willing to play quartets, we have been blown away by Bill Reichenbach's Christmas Trombone Quartets. Every one one of them we buy is good!!

Good luck. Please share any "new" quintets you find that you feel are good, or great!

I don't know if they can/will sell their arrangements, but Trombone Christmas has six parts, if you'd be willing to discard one voice.

Thanks for the link! I do a lot with quartets, and I hadn't seen this list before.
