Loud L35 in a Elkie 62h

I was given a Loud L35 (free forever, he doesn't want it back) due to my complaint of irritation around my lips due to a possible brass allergy. It's pretty heavy and I'm wondering if it's a match for my Minick modded 62h. Any thoughts?

Loud LM-35: Cup I.D. 27.50mm (1.083") ; throat 7.14mm (0.281")

So perhaps similar (in size) to a Bach 1¼G, smaller than a Schilke 59. Made of stainless steel.

Why not try it with your 62H and report what you learn?

I'm going to give it a couple weeks of trial. Right out of the bucket though, it seems to have a bunch of punch. Intonation is very good. Stay tuned.

The mouthpiece works, lives up to it's name though. The horn can let 'er rip well enough on it's own so it really doesn't need much help from the mouthpiece. It doesn't respond well unless it's full on loud, drum corp type playing. I'll give it a couple more weeks to give it a fair shake. If anyone is interested, there might be a Loud L35 in the Classified real soon.

first of all , I'm going to keep it. It's a good match. I just needed to learn to hold back a bit so I didn't overwhelm the band, it blends pretty well and when I need the punch it's there. I know it's still pretty low mileage but so far so good.

But I’m going to hold on to it and try it again sometime. Meanwhile, I forgot my mouthpiece pouch for a gig and the only piece I had was my trusty old Conn 3B, put’er in the 62h and OMG! The horn sang, projected and responded without any hesitation or effort. We’ll see what happens with this development.

A Conn 3B mouthpiece (with "Remington" taper) is a great match (probably original equipment) for these older Conn bass trombones. I happily play a 3B with my 1969 Conn 71H. Soft to loud, symphonic to "commercial."
