Caleb Burhans - Lontano
Caleb wrote this beautiful bass trombone solo in memorial of his good friend Matt Marks, who was also my colleague and friend, that we tragically lost too soon. It was commissioned and recorded by Gerry Pagano, and is a beautiful addition to the bass trombone repertoire.
From the composer:
* This work should be performed in an extremely reverberant setting such as a silo or cathedral. If such acoustics are unavailable, the sound should be heavily processed with a similar reverb effect. Performers may breathe at any point with the exception of slurs.
Lontano may be staged with the performer as distant from the audience as possible (offstage).
