DE cup and shank closest to Bach 6 1/2 AL

Post by Bach5G »

What Doug Elliot cup and shank would be most similar to a Bach 6 1/2 AL?

Of course Doug Elliott will know best.

My guess: MT 100 Rim / MT D Cup / D3 Shank

But I'm probably wrong!

Does Doug make anything "Teutonic?"

I’m not concerned about the rim.

D+, halfway between D and E.
And the D+ cup has its own D+ shanks, in small shanks #2, 3, 4, and large shank 8.

I make the D+ depth in ST, MT, LT, and XT series. D+ cup and D+4 shank is a really good choice for a 36B.

On my Conn 78H, which I use for show playing, D+ with D+4 shank sounds great. When I use it in brass band I prefer an E/E4 for a slightly bigger sound with more depth. Some people will use an even deeper F cup, I imagine this might be good if they use a .525 in orchestral settings.

Yes, it's definitely teutonic. Does he make the most teutonic mouthpieces? I don't know?
