mouthpiece storage

Post by Diana6 »

Any ideas out there on how to store mouthpieces with minimal to no build up of tarnish?

Don't store silver-plated mouthpieces in a leather pouch. (Instant tarnish!) I keep my mouthpieces in soft fabric pouches, often padded for extra protection. No tarnish problems

Maybe not the industrial solution you’re looking for, but I take socks and put the mouthpieces in them. Long ones work well when you fold them back end over into itself and are plenty protective for storage in a drawer in my experience. I’ve seen significantly less tarnish doing that than if I leave a mouthpiece on my desk.

Ziploc bag with one of those little tarnish prevent strips.

Are you talking about in-case storage or long-term out-of-case storage?

I have been using a Vault by Pelican pistol case for long term storage and I haven't had tarnish problems with that. For short term and in case storage I use the Protec mouth piece cases and they seem to keep them tarnish free.

Taking about long term out of case storage for about 12 pieces.
Something cheap if possible or something I can make... like the socks idea, homemade fabric pouches, ziplock bag with tarnish strips, etc...
