Kudos to Doug Elliott

Some time ago, I purchased a near-mint 1968 Olds R15 Recording from greenbean (Thanks, Tom!). It's a beautiful trombone, but I was never happy with the mouthpiece for it. It has the lamentable Olds undersized receiver, so that standard small-shank mouthpieces don't fit properly, and just don't work as well for me. And I was unhappy with the original issue mouthpieces (Olds 3 or Olds 1).

I recently received from Doug Elliott, after a long delay due to his manufacturing issues, a new custom shank that fits the undersized Olds receiver perfectly. My Recording setup is now: D3* Olds Shank / ST D Cup / ST 99 (or ST 100) Rim. [I have to decide which Rim works better for my face.] I now have a state-of-the art trombone which is fun to play in a variety of settings (and looks gorgeous). I'm a happy trombonist.
