They revisited that myth in a later episode to correct some of the aspects of the experiment that they did wrong, with more or less the same results IIRC.

On a side note, pretty "Modell Kuhn" at 0:25!

They couldn't find an old beat-up stone-lined straight mute and had to buy a nice aluminum one? Geesh.

Not that it really makes a difference, but a StoneLined mute would probably break apart faster than an aluminum one. The base is just glued into the cone.

The story on which it is based is a good read, but totally untrue.

Thankfully they're not actually trombone players, they can afford something nice and new :biggrin:
