New Album From Bass Trombonist Max Seigel

Post by ngrinder »

Fans of jazz and the bass trombone should look no further than Max Seigel's new quartet album, Bluebird. Max is one of my favorite musicians, period, and his depth as an improvising jazz bass trombonist is in my opinion unparalleled. Please check him out and give him some love!

I've heard Max at ATW a couple of times with Weather Vest and talked to him once. His control over the instrument is at odds with most of the bass bone playing I get to hear.

I'd like to hear him in other contexts too, but with the quartet he's very conversational. I wish I could play like that. I really love his fluidity on the horn and throughout the range.

The above link is more improvisational, and with a different group, but it's still his laid back conversational way of playing. Thanks for the link!

Buy it! I agree with Nick 100% - Max is one my very favorite musicians and people, and the way he plays bass trombone is unique and inspiring.
